Chris Brogan (And YOU) Should Stay On LinkedIn

Chris Brogan recently said he was thinking about deleting his LinkedIn account.

I was shocked when I first read this, but I also understand that he must be getting overwhelmed by the amount of people reaching out and asking for favors.

Since Chris has given me amazing advice, and I consider him to be a mentor of mine,  I decided to create a video to show you (and Chris) why I think it would be a mistake if he deleted his LinkedIn account.

The message in this video is not only for Chris, but for everyone who isn’t using LinkedIn to its fullest potential yet.  I urge you to start using it more aggressively, as you will see what the benefits are in this video.

Staying On LinkedIn

Here are my 8 main reasons I feel Chris Brogan should stay on LinkedIn:

1.    Google Juice: LinkedIn is one of the top search results for Chris (and most of us)

2.    Recommendations: With 145+ recommendations you create more authority and social proof

3.    Build and Manage a Powerful Database: More powerful than with Facebook and Twitter

4.    Exporting Contacts:
No other *top* social networking site does this

5.    Driving Traffic: Your status updates, links, and WP blog app drives organic traffic to your site

6.    More Followers: People will follow you on Twitter, join your newsletter, and subscribe to your blog

7.    Sells Books:  Need I say more?

8.    Decision Makers: Higher net worth of people are on LinkedIn over the other traditional business sites

Do you think Chris should delete his LinkedIn profile?  Are my points compelling enough to keep him (and YOU) on LinkedIn?  I hope Chris decides to give it another chance and think about it differently from here on out, and I hope the rest of you understand how powerful LinkedIn can be for your business.

Enjoy The Moment – Journey To Success

Sometimes we forget why we work so hard.

Sometimes we don’t notice the beauty right in front of us.

We are passionate about what we do for a reason… so we can enjoy moments like this.  Nuff said!

Watch Your Surroundings – Journey To Success

I have been inspired by Chris Brogan’s Overnight Success Series on his blog ever since I watched the first video.  It makes me appreciate my journey to “success” as I grind and hustle every day to achieve my goals.

Check out my first video on my Journey To Success

Chris is a guy I follow, because he is someone who has reached the coveted “overnight success” goal in the online space that I play in.  Many others have achieved this overnight success as well, and each of them have taken a different path to get to where they are now.

I’m not anywhere close to Chris or some of the other over night successes out there, but I take my game to the next level every day, and I’m constantly breaking barriers, reaching new goals, and taking the necessary steps to become my own “overnight success”.

I decided to start my own series, inspired by Chris, to share with you what it is like for someone who is on his journey, and what it takes to stay on the right path to achieve whatever it is you are looking for (clue: it is NOT about the destination people).

I hope you enjoy my first video in this series, and please add your thoughts below to share with me a little more about your personal journey to overnight success.

Don’t Forget What You Are Passionate About: For Me, It’s Dunking!

michael jordanWhat did you used to be passionate about?

For me, it was basketball.

I used to be decent at dunking a basketball as well (even for a lanky white boy).  However, It’s been a few years since I have dunked a basketball, or even stepped on a court.

I wanted to see if I still “had it” so I went back to my high school gym to bring back the inspiring memories, and rev up the MJ hops in me to see if I could still do what I loved in the past.  Find out if I can still dunk in this brief video below.

This is my friend Jason King (below), who inspired me to see if I could still dunk.  His videos are extremely funny, but also inspiring if you think about what he is trying to accomplish with what he has to work with (no offense Jason ;)   Check out his video below, and watch some others on his site.  Thanks for the good times my friend.

Was there something you were passionate about when you were growing up that you seemed to forget about?  If so, feel free to write it in the comments section below, and let me know what you plan to do to bring that passion back… if anything at all.
