Live Untamed and Unapologetic In Business and Life

Speak your truth.

Are you holding onto shame about who you are? What you want? Who you love?

Sometimes, speaking our truth can be a terrifying thing. There are so many voices telling us what to do, how to act, and who we should be.

We all feel pressure at some point, and we all hold onto shame. For years, I held onto the shame of being sexually assaulted by a man I didn’t know. I was only a kid, and speaking my truth seemed like an impossible feat.

The journey was a long one, but I found healing, and I surrounded myself with people who would support me. I spoke the truth, and it was so freeing. I’ve realized that the environment you find yourself in really affects whether you’re going to find true peace in your life.

Things like toxic relationships and hostile work environments really keep us from speaking our truth. Just by living in this world, we all go through social conditioning that tries to keep us for embracing who we are. But we have the power to change those circumstances, seek healing over pain, and choose courage over silence.

Today, I have a very special friend on The School of Greatness to share with you her story of letting go of shame and finding the truth, grace, and forgiveness in her own relationships. She embodies the meaning of confidence and has tremendously helped me on my own journey as well.

She’s the one and only Glennon Doyle.

“The role of a mother is not to be a martyr; it’s to be a model.” @GlennonDoyle

An activist and thought leader, Glennon is the founder and president of Together Rising, an all-women led nonprofit organization that has revolutionized grassroots philanthropy – raising over $25 million for women, families, and children in crisis. Glennon Doyle is the author of #1 New York Times bestsellers Untamed (a Reese’s Book Club selection) and Love Warrior (an Oprah’s Book Club selection), as well as the New York Times bestseller Carry On, Warrior. Glennon lives in Florida with her wife and three children.

Her newest memoir, Untamed, came out on March 10, 2020, and explores the joy and peace we discover when we stop striving to meet others’ expectations and start trusting the voice deep within us. People everywhere are raving about how this book has changed their lives and helped them stand for who they are and not what the world wants them to be.

Glennon has been an outstanding friend to me and has helped me walked through some difficult places. She encouraged me to share my story about being sexually assaulted as a kid, and I am so grateful for her courageous spirit.

I know you all are going to enjoy this one. Join me on Episode 952 to learn how you can live an untamed and unapologetic life with the incredible Glennon Doyle.
